Ethipothala Waterfalls Visakhapatnam – The Spectacular Cascade amidst Crocodile Lagoon

While visiting the Kailasagiri, we came to know that the Ethipothala Waterfalls is one of the best places to enjoy and rejuvenate the body and mind and hence, we planned a visit to this place. Though it was 328 kilometers away from Vishakhapatnam, our love for nature attracted us towards this place.

Being a budget traveler, I took a bus route to the place and throughout the route we enjoyed the scenic beauty of the place. The closer to the Nagarjuna Sagar, the more nearer to nature we went. The sight of the dam was spectacular. The whole area is surrounded by forest. We reached the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, which is one of the largest dams in the world and provides water for hydro electric projects to produce electricity.

We took a hotel near the Nagarjuna Sagar to enjoy the night there. The fall is located just 11 km away from the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and is a place to indulge in nature. This marvelous spellbinding Ethipothala Waterfalls falls from a height of 22 meters at the foot hills. Moreover, it is the union of 3 rivers called Tummala Vagu, Chandravanka Vagu and Nakkala Vagu. Apart from this, there are plenty of places to visit such as excellent temples near the falls and they are Ranganatha and Dattatreyaswamy temples.

We reached the falls around midday. It was a spectacular sight to see the water rolling down to the foothills. The surrounding area is now converted into a crocodile breeding centre by the forest department. So there are plenty of restrictions in the lagoon. We enjoyed several crocodiles and reptiles living in their natural habitat. We were thrilled by the sight of these crocodiles.

This place is a home to spectacular temples and caves. These network of caves from this place leads to Srisailam. It was indeed a beautiful view to enjoy the sunset and in the evening, the decorating lights came alive, which were fixed near the falls. The different colors of lights offered added beauty to the falls. We spend our time until night and returned to the hotel room and slept very late.
