The stay at the Alappuzha beach was very relaxing and the night stay at the house boat was an equally amazing experience. The beach of Alappuzha is a very nice place to reconnect with your soul and mind. Once I was done with the visit to the Alappuzha beach, I headed to experience the Aqua tourism of the city.
Alappuzha is renowned for its Aqua Tourism. The Arabian Sea on the west and a wide variety of water bodies in the form of lakes, lagoons, and rivers crossing the city, Alappuzha is a nature’s wonder. The place is famously called as the Venice of the East. This place is also home to many amazing species of birds from around the world, some of which are migratory. The place has a close proximity to the sea and hence it enjoys a special place in the maritime life of the state.
There are many households whose business and occupation strive on the marine tourism generated by the place. This is the reason why the houseboat and the backwater tourism increased in the place. They attract lakhs of tourists every year from all over the world. The city is also famous for its boat races, household holidays and the beautiful beaches.
One amazing part of this place is Kuttanad, which is also known as the rice bowl of the state. This place is perhaps one of its kinds in the world where farming is done below the sea levels. There is also an island known as Pathiramanal or the Backwater Island which is located in the middle of the Lake Vembanad. This is the island where migratory birds from around the world gather. There are many houseboat races and other boat races organized throughout the year which is a major attraction of the place.
The aqua tourism of the place is immense and worth witnessing. There is huge scope of improvement too which can make Kerala as one of the best tourist destinations around the world. After this I was headed for the next place in my list which was the famous Bolgatty Island.
